This clean urban house is located on a narrow thirty-five foot lot in Seattle, Washington. Main materials which was used during the construction are cedar and fiber cement panels. It’s designed to maximize access to natural light and views yet maintain privacy. Because of the small site it has three floors and a terrace on the roof. Public living areas are located on the ground floor, private bedrooms on the second floor and a shared office on the third one. The floor plan is linear so all floors have very efficient layout. The south facade of the house features large expanses of glass and is protected by a cedar sun screen. [Vandeventer + Carlander Architects]

Two Attached Houses with Smooth Cedar Skin
These two attached houses are situated in the central neighborhood of North Williams Avenue, Portland. Their footprint is very small so they gain more living space by moving vertically. The shape of the houses is simple cube with windows with a dark skin of smooth cedar. The interior of each home is composed of two distinct spatial orders. The first is a series of six rooms, offset at each half story, and smoothly joined by a series of half flight stairs forming a modified open floor plan. White oak floors, velvety white woodwork and bright walls are components and materials that was use in the interior design. These “wet” rooms define the second spatial order and are placed at the center of the open floor plan like a series of stacked rooms. Besides all that these homes have great city and mountain views thanks to their height. [Atelier Waechter]

Wooden House With The Sea View – Sea Ranch Residence
The site for this small Sea Ranch house is edged with mature evergreen trees and opens to a meadow with views out to the Pacific Ocean. The house design is inspired by Japanese simplicity and almost entirely made of wood. Simple from the outside and in, it has a continuous band of windows and doors capture stunning views and the natural light. Cedar ceilings and sheetrock walls create a clean minimalist interior. The house has the interesting breakfast nook. It’s 21-square-foot space which sits just off the kitchen, up a 6-inch-tall step. Thanks to steel pieces embedded in the walls, cedar benches appear to float without support, as does a cedar tabletop. The house on the meadow shows that there is a very quite and comfortable way to live. [Turnbull Griffin Haesloop Architects]
