That isn’t the first project by october ueda & nakagawa architects in modernistic style. The skew house also has futuristic interior but Novela exterior hide it better. Although exterior isn’t as simple as it could be besides interesting windows it hasn’t any feautres. It’s just cube.
The clients wanted big house so to achieve that on 62.62m2 of building area architects created three stories. There also was a desire to create interesting space. The house become very unusual inside. Stairs, rooms, built-in furniture – everything has non-traditional form like windows outside. Most rooms are separated just by simple glass. Lack of colors and built-in furniture make the interior very minimalistic. That just add a bit of modernism to the house. Without doubts owners of the house impressed their neighbors.
We do not know they are modernists or savages; we decided to follow their words. This is because we could not find other choices. It is to express our inner reflections to the outside – with small lies (sometimes needs small lies to be a good man). We did not want to surprise good neighbors. Maybe a mask is needed for architecture sometimes to be a good neighbor to hide chimeric desires of architects. The word “NOVELA” means a new story came to the town.

Parallelogram isn’t usual shape for the house. Mostly architects use more simple forms combined from rectangular blocks without acute angles. Although House Kempeneers which is situated on the beautiful site in Belgium is designed not as usual house. Klaarchitectuur created beautiful gray colored house in the middle of green landscape which sits non-perpendicularly with the street like other houses in the neighbor. Its ground floor took 350 square meters of the site while the second floor is only 120 square meters but with the terrace from where owners could see the whole neighbor. Combination of floor to ceiling glass windows and doors in steel frames with gray bricks make the house quite minimalist and modern outside. The interior continues these tendencies and also is very interesting. There is only necessary furniture so nothing distracts from its features like stairs without the frame. [Klaarchitectuur]

Casa Capece Venanzi is a suburban house situated near Adriatic coast on area between the plain and a hill. It’s tightened between the urban texture of two levels single family houses and the hill covered with untouched vegetation. Instead of looking towards the city the house is turned towards the hill to capture completely green views. Besides two levels above the ground there is the underground level completely dug in the land. Inner patio acts as central element of the house connecting living areas of ground level, roof-garden area and underground space. Living areas consist of usual rooms like bath, study, sauna and so on. The architecture and used materials provide the house with modern style without using classic minimalist ideas. Giovanni Vaccarini‘s work is great example of cozy modern house design.
